MASK

A Short Film by Onitan Films

"We all wear one. Not everyone survives it."

About the Film

What happens when the people who should protect you become the source of the pain?

MASK is a short film that pulls back the curtain on the quiet suffering inside Nigerian homes and schools. It follows real experiences of neglect, mental health collapse, and the silent violence of domestic child abuse.

This is not a comfortable film. It is a necessary one.

MASK was made for every child who was told their pain was not real. For every parent who did not know the signs. For every school that looked away. This film exists to start the conversation that saves lives.

Many of us wear masks without even realizing it. Look within. What mask do you wear?

Stories that demand to be told

Onitan Films is an independent film production brand dedicated to creating stories that hold a mirror to African society. We believe film is not just entertainment. It is a tool for healing, accountability, and change.

MASK is our debut short film. It will not be our last.

We are building a body of work that speaks to the real experiences of Nigerians, especially those whose stories have been dismissed, silenced, or ignored. Every film we make is a commitment to the people behind the statistics.

Our Mission

To create films that spark the conversations Nigerian society has been avoiding. To take those films directly to schools, communities, and homes where they are needed most. To prove that African independent cinema can change lives without a Hollywood budget.
